About this experience

Bring together a group from your company to participate in the unique and challenging Sierra Leone Marathon, in support of Street Child, a non-for-profit charity. Our award-winning adventure will take you and your colleagues/friends on a life-changing experience - walking, jogging or running 5km, 10km, half or the full marathon in the breathtaking nature of Makeni. An unforgettable challenge that will bring the team together. In the days before the marathon, you will visit some of Street Child’s projects in northern Sierra Leone; a unique opportunity to see the impact your support has on the lives of children, families and whole communities across Sierra Leone. It is extremely important to us that the event leaves only a positive impact on the local community. Therefore all costs of the travelling packs go directly to local partners. As Street Child does not profit from your participation, we ask all participants to start a fundraiser to support the continuity of our Sierra Leone projects - a fun challenge that always turns into a corporate team activity or an office competition! Once you arrive in Sierra Leone, you have the unique opportunity to visit the sites and see exactly where your donation goes. The Street Child team is with you all they way - from signing up to booking you flights to getting your visa and to showing you all the beauty Sierra Leone has to offer! Hello, we're Street Child Denmark.

121 million school-aged children are currently out of education world-wide. Millions more children are in school but failing to learn. Street Child believes that achieving universal basic education is the single greatest step that can be taken towards the elimination of global poverty. Street Child prides itself on being willing to go to the world’s toughest places where others won’t, including remote, hard-to-reach areas and fragile, disaster-affected states. We recognise that the barriers to education are complex and interlinked, and our projects focus on a combination of education, child protection and livelihood support to address the social, economic and structural issues that underpin today’s education crisis. Wherever we work we partner with local organisations and communities and take an outcome-led approach. We use evidence to drive learning and the constant refinement and scale-up of programmes that create maximum impact for the most children at the lowest cost.
